Event organisers from the early 1990s like Fantazia, Raindance, Universe, Helter Skelter, Dreamscape (ESP Promotions), Amnesia House, Labrynth, Dance Paradise, Perception and Obsession
A one-off promotion at an undisclosed venue with a popular meeting point at Deputy Dogs cafe in Risby on the outskirts of Bury St Edmunds. A common spot used by other promoters, including High Pressure, Decadence, MCP and more.
I’m not 100% certain on the info here, or even if this event actually took place (TBC). Kiss 100 FM and Pump Action seem to be the backers and on the rear of the flyer it says it’s a Mayday Promotion. I don’t remember seeing this being advertised back in the day and I checked the event listings in the December 1994 issue of Atmosphere magazine, and there is nothing listed in there.
We felt a need to write this letter to express ourselves to-you. We’ve decided it’s time to send this message to let you know what’s been going off. Because we are ravers ourselves and not people who have had clubs before we could not visualise the amount of red tape we have had to wade through. There have been many months of delay, with many downers, but we have stuck it out and at last we have been granted a licence.
Our organisation is DIEHARD INTERNATIONAL and we are putting the DIELECTRIC CLUB together for the people out there who know what the word raving really means, because in our opinion the rave scene has been commercialised in inner city night clubs. Our venue has been purpose built from the heart by true ravers because we knew you needed somewhere of your very own.
We don’t look on ourselves as promoters but as ravers who are in it for the love of it. Our idea from the beginning of this project was to raise the crowd to a high by playing uplifting happy hardcore with a touch of old-skool throughout the night at the right speed as it used to be, and if only we could have opened before now we would have and still intend to do so.
The music has taken a wrong turn, let’s put it back on the right path. Our intentions are to get the hardcore scene back to how it was at a danceable rhythm with music with a feeling, not an attitude. DIEHARD intends to educate people into the good side of raving with feelings of happiness.
We need to unite and let peace, love and harmony reign once more and stamp out the dark side of the badboy image. The badness that creates the wrong kind of atmosphere ragging people up, ripping people off and bad attitudes was never meant to be a part of the rave scene, it was just a thing that caught on. People shouldn’t take advantage of the easy going happy ravers. So remember, lock away the dark side and release the light as it is now time to celebrate the opening of a ravers dream come true. Our dream is your dream. Full respect to everybody who has stuck it out over the dark months.
Love and respect, The Preacher
