POV: making a track like MICHAEL BIBI in 1 HOUR (+ Samples) [ABLETON]

This last "how to" comes from a channel that is very focused on promoting their own sample packs. It's an established channel with 5.39k subscribers and 151 videos. This hour long tutorial has no spoken direction, but it's enough to follow along as they build up all the components of the track in Ableton. The final outcome if a fairly generic sounding Bibi arrangement - not really similar to his more recent output, but reminiscent of what he was making several years back.

The core drum pattern is just a kick, clap and open hat with some skippy notes on the off-beat. The groove and extra interest comes from layers of percussion and top loops along with some textures for atmosphere. For my track I pulled all of these from the East End Dubs sample pack. For the synths I used some default patches (plucks and polysynths) from Surge. They fairly closely matched what was being created using Serum in the video.

Here is my track based on what BEATTHEDIP was doing;

I followed the same arrangement, and this isn't a million miles away from the end product in the video. So, in that respect, this was easy to follow along and to create something comparable - if not, a little generic. That being said, the main difference would be the vocal sample used. I went for short section of speech from the "LSD: Insight or Insanity" public inforrmation film which I found on youtube.

Here is the full arrangement of my track - it's not complex. I applied very little polish to the track so the levels could be improved, extra saturation is probably needed in places and there is little to no mastering in place.

Despite the lack of mastering and the generic nature of the track, it's actually already picked up a little bit of traction on Soundcloud, making it (somewhat randomly) into the weekly Trending Techno songs in Brazil and Vietnam!
