One Nation

The origins of One Nation can be traced back to Terry “Turbo” Stone’s entry into the emerging rave scene in 1988. Initially working for the Flying Squad distributing flyers, Stone soon established his own promotion company, Turbo Promotions, and began making a living from the rapidly expanding rave industry. Through selling tickets for some of the era’s biggest one-off events, he developed contacts and experience within the scene before taking another step forward with the launch of The Scene, a rave magazine that became a significant success. This progression from promotion and ticketing into the world of rave media would ultimately provide the foundation for his next venture.

In December 1993, Stone staged his first One Nation event at the Roller Express in Edmonton, North London. From the outset, One Nation was conceived on a large scale, with the inaugural event catering for around 3,000 people rather than building gradually from smaller parties. The brand quickly developed its own distinctive identity, with renowned rave artist Junior Tomlin designing the first One Nation flyer and many that followed. Together, the scale of the events and the striking visual identity helped establish One Nation as a major name in the emerging jungle and drum & bass scene.
