Finally, Some Cooler Weather

Beachy Head Half Marathon 2026 Training Block - Week 9/11

What a difference a change in the weather makes. After what feels like weeks of daily temperatures around 20°C and seemingly endless humidity, tonight finally brought something a little more like autumn. 14°C and, thankfully, the humidity had disappeared. Suddenly, Zone 2 running felt a whole lot easier.

Tonight’s 9km was an absolute breeze. I stayed comfortably within my endurance zone for the entire run and managed to sit almost exactly on the suggested 6:05/km pace without having to constantly adjust things. No slowing down because my heart rate was creeping up, no speeding up because I’d dropped off the pace - just a steady, comfortable rhythm from start to finish. And that made all the difference. The run seemed to fly by, and before I really had time to think about it, 9km was done.

Tomorrow will be a rest day before what I think will be my last set of hill sprints, which I’m planning to do Friday morning. After that, the focus shifts towards getting ready for the Beachy Head Half. For tonight, though, I’ll happily take an easy 9km and some much cooler air.
