A Perfect Morning for an Easy Run
Beachy Head Half Marathon 2026 Training Block - Week 7/11
After a big weekend of mileage, today's run was deliberately about trying to keep things eas and well in zone 2. There was a little bit of guilt in play here as the 10k on Saturday and the 17k on Sunday were more tempo and threshold than endurance.
So, no targets to chase, no intervals, no worrying about pace - just an easy zone 2 run and some time on my feet. There's always that temptation to push a little harder when you're feeling good, but after the weekend's mileage the sensible option was to let the legs recover while still getting out and moving. The first positive was that recovery from the weekend was good. My Garmin said I needed 24 more hours to fully recover, but everything felt fine and my training status went back to Productive from a week or two of Maintaining - which was nice to see!

Sunshine, blue skies and just enough of a breeze to keep things nice and comfortable today. It was the sort of September morning that makes running feel very easy indeed. No battling the weather, no hiding from the wind, no excuses - just a really enjoyable run. After a few runs recently in really humid conditions, this felt so much better.

The pace stayed comfortably in Zone 2 for the whole thing (well, almost), and by the end I felt like I'd got exactly what I wanted from the run: I feel less guilty now about pushing things over the weekend. Runna AI will be happy with me for once.
A pretty good way to start a Tuesday.
